Rare Chips

Compared to general NTC thermistors, our thermistor rare core chips can perform better at higher temperatures.

Easy Design

Linear calculation of resistance and tolerance simplifies design and reduces system cost for hardware and software.

Small Package

The industry's smallest linear thermistor package simplifies PCB layout and allows closer access to hotspots.

Negative temperature coefficient (NTC)thermistorsare made of sintered metal oxides. Their resistancedrops significantly with a slight increase intemperature.Their resistance is calculated bypassing a small, measurable direct current(DC)through the thermistor and measuring the resultingvoltage drop.
Thermistors are used in many areas of life andproduction. Read this guide to learn how to choosethe right product.

Buying Guide

· Temperature Range
When selecting a temperature sensor, the first thing to consider is the temperature range of the application.
Since NTC thermistors perform well over an operating range of -50°C to 250°C, they are well suited for a wide range of applications across many different industries.

· Accuracy
Among the basic sensor types, NTC thermistors have the ability to achieve the highest accuracy from -50°C to 150°C, and up to 250°C for glass encapsulated thermistors.
Accuracy ranges from 0.05°C to 1.00°C.

· Stability
In applications where long-term operation is the goal, stability is very important. Temperature sensors can drift over time, depending on their materials, construction, and packaging.
Epoxy coated NTC thermistors can vary by 0.2°C per year, while hermetically sealed thermistors vary by only 0.02°C per year.

· Packaging
Packaging requirements depend on the environment in which the sensor will be used.
NTC thermistors can be customized and packaged in a variety of housings depending on the application requirements. They can also be epoxy coated or glass encapsulated for further protection.

· Noise Immunity
NTC thermistors have excellent immunity to electrical noise and lead resistance.

· Disc and Chip
They are configured with or without coating, with bare or tinned copper leads. Thermistors are available in a wide range of resistance values to suit a variety of situations.

· Epoxy
Epoxy is dip coated and soldered between sheathed Teflon/PVC wires. They are compact, easy to install, and can be point matched or curve matched.

· Glass Encapsulated
This is an excellent choice when dealing with extreme environmental conditions and stability is critical. Configurations include radial leaded or axial leaded thermistors.

· Probe Assemblies
A variety of housings are available depending on application requirements.

· Surface Mount
Configuration options include bulk, tape and reel, double sided, and wraparound with palladium silver terminations. These thermistors are made with a nickel barrier, making them ideal for precision circuits.

· NTC thermistors have specific electrical characteristics

Current-time characteristics
Voltage-current characteristics
Resistance-temperature characteristics

· Product type and size
Thermistor users will typically know the size, thermal response, time response, and other physical characteristics required for the thermistor configuration. Even with the lack of data, it should be easy to narrow down the NTC thermistor selection, but the intended application of the thermistor must be carefully analyzed.

· Resistance-Temperature Curves
Ametherm data sheets contain a table or matrix of resistance ratios versus temperature for each NTC thermistor product. Coefficients α and β are also provided for specific equations to help the user or designer convert resistance tolerance to temperature accuracy, as well as calculate the temperature coefficient for each curve.
There are quite a few materials that can be used to make thermistors, but there are some limitations based on size, operating and storage temperature ranges, and nominal resistance values.

· Nominal Resistance Values
The next factor to consider is whether the application requires curve matching or point matching. This will allow the calculation of the nominal resistance value required at a given temperature.
Ametherm offers a range of nominal resistance values for its NTC thermistors. The standard reference temperature is 25°C, but buyers and designers can request different temperatures.
Note: If the combination of product type and material composition does not provide the desired resistance, a decision must be made as to which characteristic takes precedence: product type/size, material preference, or resistance ratio.

· Resistance Tolerances
Ametherm provides standard tolerances when reviewing product specification sheets. For example, the zero-power resistance distribution for disc or chip thermistors is typically ± 1% to ± 20%.
To save costs, Ametherm recommends using the widest possible tolerance specification relevant to the intended application.
Use different NTC thermistors to bring new experiences to your life or production activities. DTTTEK is committed to seeking the best product quality, providing cost-effective NTC products, insisting on continuous innovation, maintaining the optimization of technology and production processes, and bringing better products to customers.
